America’s ToothFairy honors founding president Fern Ingber and board member Dr. Gordon Christensen at its Celebration of Smiles event on February 23.

As National Children’s Dental Health Month continues, America’s ToothFairy will recognize one of its leaders in improving oral healthcare for kids as it honors president emeritus Fern Ingber during its Celebration of Smiles event at the Chicago Midwinter Meeting on Thursday, February 23. Ingber, who was the founding president and has served as its CEO since the organization’s inception in 2006, announced her retirement on November 7.

During her tenure, Ingber attracted the support and personal participation of corporate, academic, and clinical leaders in oral healthcare. Her fundraising strategies, including a cause marketing program linking the sales of leading dental products to America’s ToothFairy and the virtual ToothFairy Ball, were developed to provide ongoing contributions to the organization. Along with these partnerships, her creation of the Affiliate Network of nonprofit clinical programs has benefited about 2 million children and families each year.

“The America’s ToothFairy Board of Directors is grateful to Fern Ingber for her unwavering commitment to the cause of children’s oral health and her service to this organization for the past 11 years,” said James Ingebrand, president and general manager of 3M Oral Care and chairman of the board of America’s ToothFairy. “We applaud her many contributions and look forward to recognizing her at the annual Celebration of Smiles event in Chicago.”

“During her tenure at America’s ToothFairy, Fern was instrumental in bringing national attention to the children’s oral health crisis and establishing successful community-based programs and resources to address the challenge,” said Jill Malmgren, executive director of the organization. “The collaborative partnerships and programming developed under her leadership have enabled America’s ToothFairy to be a valuable resource provider for nonprofit clinics and community organizations reaching underserved children.”

America’s ToothFairy also will salute Gordon Christensen, DDS, MSD, PhD, founder and director of Practical Clinical Courses, during the celebration. He has been an advocate and spokesperson for America’s ToothFairy as well as a member of its board of directors. The celebration will be held on February 23 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, Ballroom A. The public is welcome to attend. RSVPs to rsvp@ncohf.org or (704) 350-1600 are requested but not required.
