This video presents the “enamel margin preservation technique,” a crucial way to avoid subgingival margins using adhesive dentistry with direct and indirect restorations. Subgingival restorative margins are extremely problematic when using bonded resins and can lead to contamination and failure.

Dr. Jose-Luis Ruiz

Dr. Ruiz is director of the Los Angeles Institute of Clinical Dentistry, an associate instructor at Dr. Gordon Christensen’s PCC in Utah, and an independent evaluator of dental products for CR Foundation. He is course director of numerous continuing education courses at University of Southern California, and is an honorary clinical professor at Warwick University in England. Dr. Ruiz has been practicing in the Studio District of Los Angeles, Calif, for more than 20 years, focusing on treating complex cosmetic, rehabilitation, and implant cases. Dr. Ruiz has published several clinical and research papers on adhesive dentistry, occlusion, and aesthetic dentistry. He lectures internationally and has made numerous television appearances highlighting his aesthetic dental makeovers, including NBC’s Channel 4 News; ABC’s News, Good Morning America, and Vista LA; VH1; and Channel 52’s Telemundo and 34 Univision. Dr. Ruiz has been named as one of the leaders in continuing education Dentistry Today since 2006.
