The 3Shape TRIOS 4 combines detection of possible surface and interproximal caries in a single scanner. Its built-in fluorescent technology is aids in the early detection of surface caries without needing an additional scanning device. Later this year, 3Shape will offer a dedicated transillumination smart tip that will be designed to aid in the identification of possible interproximal caries undetectable to the eye without emitting radiation.

The new generation of smart tips feature instant-heat technology for optimized scanning. In addition to enabling users to be scan-ready in seconds, TRIOS 4 instant-heat tips increase scanner battery life by 30%. This combination of instant-heat technology and increased battery life can enable doctors to scan two or three times as many patients per battery, 3Shape says.

Plus, the TRIOS Patient Monitoring software package enables doctors to compare scans and track changes in teeth over time to gain preventive insights. The TRIOS 4 offers these new features without increasing the size or weight of the TRIOS 3 model as well.
