Henry Schein is celebrating the season with more than 1,200 underserved children and their families as part of the company’s twentieth annual Holiday Cheer for Children program, a flagship corporate initiative created to help ensure that each participating child enjoys the holidays. Twenty-two company locations in the United States, Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, Spain, and the United Kingdom are participating in the program.

Events include toy and food drives for local nonprofit organizations and sponsorship of individual children and purchasing toys, clothing, and other gifts for them. Some locations are hosting events where Team Schein Members personally present their gifts to participating children. To identify children and families who would most benefit from the program, Henry Schein partners with local service agencies.

“For two decades, the Holiday Cheer for Children program has afforded Team Schein the opportunity to share the holidays with our friends and neighbors around the world, as we give back to the communities in which we live and work,” said Gerry Benjamin, Henry Schein’s executive vice president and chief administrative officer.

“It has been a wonderful gift to partner with local service agencies and our Team Schein Members to bring smiles and joy to countless children through the years, and we look forward to celebrating this program for many more years to come,” said Benjamin.

The company hosted its largest Holiday Cheer for Children event on December 6 at its global headquarters in Melville, New York, where more than 550 children opened their presents, enjoyed dinner, games, and music, and visited with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Participating children and families at the event were identified for participation by:

  • Bethany House
  • Espoir Youth Program
  • Family & Children’s Association
  • Family Service League
  • Hispanic Counseling Center
  • Madonna Heights
  • Nassau County Department of Social Services
  • The Raymar Children’s Fund
  • Well Life
  • YES Community Counseling Center

“The Holiday Cheer for Children program is always a blessing this time of year, and we thank Team Schein for being a valued partner in our efforts to ensure the families and children we work with enjoy a fun and festive holiday,” said Donna Teichner, assistant vice president, preventive services, for the Family & Children’s Association, the program’s longest running partner. “We have watched this program bring joy to so many families over the years, and we thank Henry Schein and its Team Schein Members for their generosity and kindness.”
