A group of staff members from a dental health service center in the United Kingdom recently gave a helping hand to the people of Tanzania.

The group spent two weeks in Tanzania, training African clinical officers to extract teeth.

Tanzania is a country in which 75 percent of the people live in rural areas but roughly 90 percent of the country’s dentists live in cities. As a result, most of the country’s people don’t receive the dental healthcare and general healthcare that they should.

Tanzania’s rural clinical officers have a hand in all types of medical procedures, including dental-related issues. The problem is that these people have little knowledge and skills to perform most dental procedures correctly.

That’s why these officers need as much training as possible. About 50 officers were trained during this visit. The visiting dental personnel also treated some patients during the trip.
