Bruce Silverman Elected SVP and COO at Delta Dental of New Jersey

PARSIPPANY, N.J. — July 9, 2012 — Delta Dental of New Jersey’s Board of Trustees has elected Bruce Silverman to senior vice president and chief operating officer. Silverman was recognized, among other acknowledgements, for his leadership and significant strategic contributions throughout Delta Dental.

“Over his career at Delta Dental, Bruce has been instrumental in the growth of our organization, the successful integration of new technology, and the adoption of new business processes,” said Walter VanBrunt, president and CEO, Delta Dental of New Jersey. “Bruce’s contributions have resulted in significant operational improvements and administrative cost reductions.”

Silverman joined Delta Dental of New Jersey as vice president of Claims in September 1989. He was promoted to senior vice president of Claims, Customer Service, and Professional Relations in 1998. Silverman oversees all aspects of operations, including claims processing, enrollment, customer service, client administration, systems quality assurance, telecommunications, provider relations and network management. In July 2011, Silverman took charge of the Information Services Department and the Project Management Office, and continued to make strategic advancements to customer focused and cost reduction initiatives.

In his new role, Silverman plans to continue to leverage investments in people and technology in order to reduce administrative costs and improve on Delta Dental’s already high levels of customer satisfaction. He also will continue to serve as Delta Dental’s compliance officer and chair the company’s Level II Provider Credentialing Committee.

Silverman graduated from Bernard Baruch College, City University of New York, with an
M.B.A. in business administration and policy. He also earned a B.A. in psychology from Harpur
College, State University of New York. Silverman has continued his education through various courses at the American Management Association (AMA), MIT, and the Institute for Oral Health.

Silverman is a member of the American Society for Quality and the AMA, and has been a member of the Delta Dental Plan Association’s (DDPA) External Standards Workgroup, eBusiness and Technology Committee and Health Care Reform task force. He also has represented DDPA at the government level on Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance, including the Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI) and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). He is a past president of the Garden State chapter of the International Customer Service Association (ICSA). He resides in Randolph, N.J.
