Almost 50% of the United Kingdom’s National Health Service (NHS) dentists aren’t taking new patients, with long waiting lists in many areas of the country, according to the Centre for Dentistry. As a result, the company says, more people in the UK are turning to private dentistry and finding that it’s more affordable and convenient than they had thought.

With practices operating in Sainsbury’s supermarkets across the UK, the Centre for Dentistry offers the CFDent booking app to put patients in control of their own dental care. Patients can monitor their dental health and book appointments at Centre for Dentistry locations via the app, which is available from the App Store and Google Play.

“The app has access to real-time data, allowing us to be more transparent and provide the patient with useful information about their own dental care, revolutionizing the patient journey and providing a seamless, more accessible service,” said David Harman, IT director of the Centre for Dentistry.

“We’re based in Sainsbury’s for convenience, and everything we’re doing technology-wise is trying to make it easier and more convenient to see your dentist,” said Lisa Riley, CEO of the Centre for Dentistry. “We’re a private family dentist, designed to be affordable with a focus on helping patients plan for their long-term oral health.”
