Haering Named Dean of College of Dental Medicine-Illinois

Midwestern University has promoted Harold J. Haering, DMD, to dean of the College of Dental Medicine-Illinois. Previously, he was the associate dean for clinical education at Midwestern’s College of Dental Medicine-Arizona.

“Dr. Haering has outstanding experience in both preclinical and clinical dental education and has brought energy and insight to the College of Dental Medicine-Arizona since he joined Midwestern University in 2011,” said Kathleen H, Goeppinger, PhD, president and chief executive officer of Midwestern University. 

After earning his degree from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry and serving as a commissioned officer in the US Public Health Service, Haering started a family dentistry practice in LaBelle, Fla, where he served the community for 27 years. Also, Haering served on the Florida Board of Dentistry from 2000 to 2004.

Haering currently is a clinical site visitor for the Council on Dental Accreditation, chair of the Quality Assurance Committee of the American Board of Dental Examiners (ADEX), and a Commission on Dental Competency Assessments/ADEX board examiner, as well as a member of the ADA, Pierre Fauchard Academy, and American Association of Dental Examiners.
