New Innovations Represent Significant Leap Forward in Clear Aligner Therapy

Align Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq:ALGN) announced the launch of Invisalign(R) G3, the most significant collection of new features and innovations in the company’s history. Invisalign G3 is engineered to deliver even better clinical results, with new aligner and software features that make it easier to use Invisalign with Class II and Class III patients, new SmartForce(TM) features designed for increased predictability of certain tooth movements, and simpler, more intuitive software to streamline treatment planning and review.

The National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, part of the NIH, has awarded a two-year, $245,000 grant to a New York University dental research team to identify bacteria in the oral cavity that may be associated with oral cancer. The team will collaborate with researchers at the NYU School of Medicine and the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

The principal investigator, Dr. Deepak Saxena, an Assistant Professor of Basic Science & Craniofacial Biology at the NYU College of Dentistry (NYUCD), said that the pilot study will compare the bacterial profiles of healthy, premalignant, and malignant oral tissue. Samples will be collected from 35 patients at NYUCD and the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

November 5, 2010, Chicago, IL— Oral Health America’s Board of Directors recently elected three members into new officer roles.  The board members and their new positions are: Keith Suchy, DDS, Drs. Sullivan & Suchy, LTD, Chair of the Board; Margaret S. Cottrell, President, ConFirm Monitoring Systems, Inc., Vice Chair; and Steven J. Pollock, President, DentaQuest, Secretary/Treasurer. Each officer will serve a two-year term, beginning in February 2011.
