ST. PAUL, Minn. – (Mar. 30, 2012) – Scotchbond™ Universal Adhesive from 3M ESPE has
been honored with a prestigious Red Dot Design Award. Created with simplicity and ease of use
in mind, the product was recognized for its flip-top vial delivery option, which allows for onehand
operation.

The Red Dot Design Awards were founded in 1955, and are now considered one of the world’s
most distinguished design competitions. The awards are juried by international design experts
who rate nominees based on criteria such as degree of innovation, functionality, self-explanatory
quality and ecological soundness. According to the organization, “the results in a category
ultimately reflect the future of the respective industry in terms of design, and thus serve as a
guide for manufacturers and designers worldwide.”

“At 3M ESPE, we recognize that design can have a dramatic effect on the utility of a product,”
said Kathy Gaertner, Restorative Business Leader. “That’s why when we create a new product,
we think beyond just what’s inside the package. We are excited to bring better design and
function to the tools dentists rely on in the operatory.”

In addition to its flip-top delivery, Scotchbond Universal adhesive offers a number of other
advantages that help dramatically simplify the adhesive process. The product provides a singlebottle
solution and a forgiving technique that can be used in total- or self-etch mode for both
direct and indirect restorations.

3M ESPE has previously received Red Dot honors for its Elipar™ S10 LED Curing Light and
Pentamix™ 3 Automatic Mixing Unit.
