Dr. Sangrik is a 1979 graduate of the Ohio State University College of Dentistry and completed the intravenous sedation program at Miami Valley Hospital of Dayton, Ohio, and the comprehensive externship at Midwest Implant Institute. He maintains a full-time general dental practice in Chardon, Ohio, with an emphasis on the treatment of apprehensive patients with intravenous sedation. He also operates Interactive Dental Seminars, an AGD PACE-approved, dental continuing education company. Active in organized dentistry, Dr. Sangrik has long held numerous positions at the local and state levels, is a member of the ADA, Ohio Dental Association, Northeastern Ohio Dental Association, and Pierre Fauchard Academy, and has volunteered on the Chardon Fire/Rescue Department. He also has served as a consultant to the Ohio State Dental Board on a task force concerning the use of oral sedation. Since 1999, he has been a well-known dental lecturer on the topics of preparing for medical emergencies in the dental office, the science of dental fear, patient monitoring, and the use of nitrous oxide and oral sedation. He has been a featured lecturer at the ADA Annual Session, the Hinman Meeting, the Chicago Midwinter Meeting, the Yankee Dental Congress, the Rocky Mountain Dental Convention, and the dental schools of the University of Mississippi, Creighton University, and Virginia Commonwealth University. Additionally, he has addressed numerous state and regional dental conventions. He has written for Dentistry Today and the ADA’s Dental Practice Success and various other dental publications on the topics of medical emergencies and dental fear. Currently, he is involved in a research project measuring the frequency of medical emergencies occurring in dental offices.
