Infection control practices are essential for ensuring the safety of patients and staff alike. With the DentalCheck app from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), practices can assess themselves to ensure they are meeting the minimum expectations for safe care. It is now available for free from the App Store and Google Play.

Infection prevention coordinators and other staff trained in infection prevention are encouraged to use the app at least annually to assess the status of their administrative policies and practices and to directly observe personnel and patient-care practices. Developed directly from the Infection Prevention Checklist for Dental Settings, the DentalCheck app features:

  • Prompts to check yes or no to acknowledge compliance with administrative policies or observed practices
  • A summary of basic infection prevention principles and recommendations for dental healthcare settings
  • The ability to export results for records management
  • Links to full guidelines and source documents that users can reference for more detailed background and recommendation
