The Academy of General Dentistry Announces General Session Speakers

CHICAGO (March 26, 2012)—The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) has named social media expert Jason Lipscomb, DDS, and professional motivator Kathy Metaxas of PLATINUM Professional Development as its two keynote speakers for the opening sessions of the AGD 2012 Annual Meeting & Exhibits in Philadelphia, from June 21 to 24. Dr. Lipscomb will speak on Thursday, June 21, and Ms. Metaxas will speak on Friday, June 22. Both sessions are free with meeting registration.

Treatment for Gum Disease Can Lower Medical Costs for People With Diabetes


United Concordia Dental offers innovative program in response to study findings

HARRISBURG, Pa., March 23, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Medical costs are lower for people with diabetes who receive treatment for gum disease, according to a study presented today to the American Association for Dental Research by Dr. Marjorie Jeffcoat of the University of Pennsylvania. The study was done in collaboration with United Concordia Dental and Highmark Inc.
