Noting its dedication to science and evidence-based dentistry as well as public health, the ADA has announced that it will narrow the focus of the ADA Foundation to research and science. The ADA Science Institute and the Volpe Research Center will now team up to allow for a renewed focus on the creation and translation of scientific knowledge, the ADA says, as well as the development of new products and technology.

To preserve and promote activities such as Give Kids A Smile, Dentist Charitable Assistance, and Access to Care, the ADA’s philanthropy will continue under the organization’s umbrella and with the support of its members and the larger dental community, the ADA said. The ADA further noted that it appreciates all of those who have volunteered for the Foundation, its employees, and its donors over the years.
