With rising inflation and supply chain issues, safety-net dental clinics providing dental care to kids in underserved communities have been having a difficult time meeting the needs of struggling families. But thanks to a generous donation from SS White Dental, members of the Dental Resource Program of America’s ToothFairy have received more than $500,000 worth of dental equipment to help stretch their budgets and serve more children.

The dental manufacturer recently donated 100,000 diamond dental rotary instruments to America’s ToothFairy, a nonprofit dental resource provider that works to ensure all children can access dental care and learn about oral health. The organization distributed the sizable donation to 46 nonprofit dental clinics serving low-income families and/or patients that live in Dental Professional Shortage Areas across the United States.

“Each year one in five kids goes without dental care, and in many cases, that’s because there aren’t enough service providers to meet the needs of the community,” said Jill Malmgren, Executive Director of America’s ToothFairy.

“Children who live in underserved areas often wait a year or longer to get an appointment. When tooth decay is already present, that long wait time can change the need for a simple filling into a root canal or extraction. However, when generous people like the folks at SS White Dental donate their instruments, which frees up resources to serve more kids and shorten wait times.”

Now in its 15th year, America’s ToothFairy has helped its nonprofit members provide dental services to more than eight million children and teens in marginalized communities nationwide.

“SS White values the work of America’s ToothFairy to increase access to dental care for families that otherwise might have to go without,” SS White Dental Owner and CEO, Tom Gallop, added. “We are honored to contribute to their organization to help in these efforts.”
