Convergent Dental’s Solea Software (SW) 3.2 update significantly increases the laser’s cutting speed, the company reports. It also is designed to produce smoother surface finishes and improve the laser’s analgesic effect. Plus, it simplifies the user interface with a single mode that cuts any tissue in the oral cavity, with no settings required, Convergent Dental says. The update is delivered via Wi-Fi for free to all current Solea users with an active service contract.

Additional new features include new cutting algorithms. Everything from cutting speed to patient comfort is dictated by complex algorithms that run under Solea’s hood, the company says. Data received from existing users is leveraged to continually improve how energy is delivered, providing optimal performance for the dentist and an optimal experience for the patient, according to Convergent Dental.
