Directa Dental’s Luxator periodontal ligament knives are designed to aid in atraumatic extractions. The fine-tapered blade compresses the alveolar bone, cuts the membrane, and eases the tooth from its socket, Directa Dental says. The handle is designed for tactile control while minimizing force during use. The tip is thin and sharp so it inserts easily between bone and root with minimal damage to the tissues, according to the company. The instrument handles are color-coded, and numbers are marked on the shaft for identification as well.
