New Officers Elected, New Trustee Installed At American Association Of Orthodontists’ Chicago Meeting

ST. LOUIS, June 7, 2011 — The American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) elected officers for 2011-12 and installed a new member of the Board of Trustees at its 111th Annual Session, held recently in Chicago.
Michael B. Rogers, DDS, was elected president of the AAO.  He is in private practice in Augusta, Ga.  In addition to his years of service on the AAO Board of Trustees, dating to 2002, Dr. Rogers has been active in organized orthodontics and dentistry for many years.   His past leadership positions include Speaker of the House of Delegates for both the AAO and the Georgia Dental Association (GDA).  He has been a Delegate to the House of Delegates for three organizations:  the American Dental Association, the GDA and the AAO.
Dr. Rogers is a past president of the Southern Association of Orthodontists, the GDA, the Georgia Association of Orthodontists (GAO), the Augusta Dental Society, and the Medical College of Georgia Orthodontic Alumni Association.
“The AAO will seek to strengthen relationships with our dental colleagues, both general practitioners and specialists, and with professionals outside of dentistry,” Dr. Rogers said.  “There is much to be done to assure continued, affordable access to quality dental healthcare delivered by properly educated dental healthcare professionals.  Through cooperative efforts in advocacy, dental education, clinical research and consumer education, all of us in dentistry will have the best opportunities to help the public achieve optimal dental health.”
John F. Buzzatto, DMD, MDS, of Allison Park, Pa., was elected president-elect.  Gayle Glenn, DDS, MSD, of Dallas, Texas was elected secretary-treasurer. Dr. Glenn also represents the Southwestern Society of Orthodontists on the AAO Board of Trustees.
Christopher A. Roberts, DDS, MS, of Findlay, Ohio, was installed as the new Trustee on the AAO Board of Trustees.  He succeeds Dr. Buzzatto as the representative of the Great Lakes Association of Orthodontists (GLAO).
The GLAO serves AAO members in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania west of the Alleghenies and the Canadian province of Ontario.  The GLAO is one of the AAO’s eight constituent societies.

Graber, DDS, MS, MS, PhD, Vernon Hills, Ill., immediate past president; Vincent G. Kokich, Sr., DDS, MSD, Tacoma, Wash., editor-in-chief of the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics; and Keith Levin, DMD, MS, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Speaker of the AAO House of Delegates.
