Dr. Gregg graduated from Georgetown University Dental School in 1984. He has maintained a private group practice in Cerritos, Calif, at the same location for 36 years. He began using lasers in clinical practice in 1990 and remains at the forefront of dental laser technology, research, innovation, and clinical adoption. Dr. Gregg obtained his Mastership and educator’s certification in the Academy of Laser Dentistry as provided for in the Laser Curriculum Guidelines. His clinical use and expertise of lasers includes CO2, variable-pulsed, free-running pulsed (FRP) Nd:YAG, FRP Ho:YAG, surgical blue and green argon, continuous wave diode, and Er:YAG lasers. He is co-inventor of the US FDA-cleared PerioLase MVP-7 pulsed Nd:YAG laser, which was awarded the Pride Institute’s Best-of-Class Technology Award in 2012, as well as the 450-nm/1,064-nm dual-pulsed diode BlaZZer laser. He is program director for the Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry and is a founder of Millennium Dental Technologies. He is the inventor and co-patent holder of the LANAP periodontal protocol; his efforts in overseeing various human clinical and histological research thereof led to the first ever FDA clearance for true periodontal regeneration, on which he lectures regularly. Dr. Gregg is also a co-developer and patent holder of the LAPIP protocol for reversing disease and bone loss around ailing and failing implants. As a longstanding peer-review member of the Dentistry Today continuing education editorial board, Dr. Gregg reviews all continuing education articles related to the topic of lasers. He has given lectures internationally on the subject of clinical laser applications and has conducted CE seminars for the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) department of continuing education. He is also a former faculty member at the UCLA School of Dentistry, section of hospital dentistry, and currently serves as an adjunct associate professor at the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. In addition to authoring several peer-reviewed articles on the clinical applications of FRP Nd:YAG for endodontic and periodontal uses, Dr. Gregg is an author of the Curriculum Guidelines and Standards for Dental Laser Education, versions 1992 and 1998.
