Members of the staff at the Great Expressions Dental Center in Dadeland, Fla, recently travelled to Dinthill Technical High School and Guy’s Hill High School in Linstead, a rural community in St. Catherine, Jamaica. During the two-day trip, they provided free dental services to more than 1,300 students. The opportunity was sponsored by the Dinthill Technical Past Students’ Association’s Florida alumni chapter.

“I feel grateful to have been given the opportunity to attend the health fair in Linstead and provide dental care to those who may have otherwise had to go without and those who face a financial burden in order to receive such services,” said volunteer Catalina Carrillo, DDS. “We plan to attend the health fair next year and are thankful to Dinthill Technical Past Students’ Association’s Florida alumni chapter for inviting us to the fair.”

The two-day health fair is held to alleviate the cost of back-to-school medical and dental health screenings for parents and benefits students. Services at the health fair, which featured 62 medical professionals, included vision and blood pressure testing, teeth cleaning, vaccinations, and more. A long-standing Great Expressions patient who also is a member of the Dinthill Technical Past Students’ Associations introduced the practice to the program.

Great Expressions senior practice administrator Rosalba Colls and expanded dental assistant Jennifer Hoo joined Carrillo on the trip. Throughout the year, Great Expressions professionals participate in initiatives and donation opportunities to improve the communities they serve in as well as communities around the work.
