Patterson Dental And The Patterson Foundation Recognized
For Outstanding Contributions To Donated Dental Services

Patterson Dental and the Patterson Foundation have been honored with awards for significant contributions to Donated Dental Services (DDS), a program of Dental Lifeline Network. Patterson Companies President and Chief Executive Officer Scott Anderson and Patterson Dental President Paul Guggenheim accepted the awards at a reception celebrating the 25th anniversary of DDS during the recent American Dental Association Annual Session in Orlando.

(Charlotte, NC November 17, 2010) National Children’s Oral Health Foundation (NCOHF) and 3M ESPE encourage Greater New York Dental Meeting attendees to support America’s Toothfairy through recycling efforts at the show. From Nov. 28-30, 3M ESPE street teams will distribute complimentary beverages as part of the RelyX™ Unicem 2 Automix Cement launch. The cup bands can be recycled at 3M ESPE’s booth and for each cup band recycled, 3M ESPE will donate dental products to NCOHF. Similar activities at the American Dental Association Annual Session resulted in 3M ESPE donating $10,000 worth of dental products.

12 North Carolina and Philadelphia Nonprofits to Receive $40,000 for
Providing Access to Healthcare

(DURHAM, N.C.) – GlaxoSmithKline, one of the world’s leading research-based pharmaceutical and healthcare companies, today announced the 12 winners of its GlaxoSmithKline IMPACT Awards. The North Carolina and Philadelphia-area healthcare nonprofit organizations received $480,000 in grant funding for providing access to healthcare for the underserved in their communities.

“All of the GlaxoSmithKline IMPACT Award winners are leaders in the nonprofit world and in their communities,” said Mary Linda Andrews, GlaxoSmithKline Director of Community Partnerships. “The dedicated teams of professionals and volunteers at these organizations are working on the front lines to provide access to healthcare at a time when people need it most. These awards provide additional resources to help them continue their important work.”

In North Carolina, GlaxoSmithKline works in partnership with Durham-based Triangle Community Foundation (TCF), a nonprofit that connects philanthropic resources with community needs, creates opportunity for enlightened change and encourages philanthropy as a way of life. TCF and GlaxoSmithKline identified potential nonprofit applicants, encouraged their participation and promoted the awards through grassroots outreach.

The GlaxoSmithKline IMPACT Awards (whose name represents Innovation, Management, Partnership, Achievement, Community focus and Targeting needs of diverse and underserved populations) honor nonprofit organizations that have a significant impact on their communities and are capable, proactive and effective in their work. This year’s winners will receive their GlaxoSmithKline IMPACT Awards at separate ceremonies held at GlaxoSmithKline’s headquarters in Research Triangle Park, N.C. and in Philadelphia.

To qualify for a GlaxoSmithKline IMPACT award, organizations must be located in the eligible counties and have a primary mission to provide access to community healthcare services. Each applicant must have annual total operating expenses between $160,000 and $3 million, and have been in existence as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization for at least five years.

All organizations are recognized for the success and achievements of their existing overall body of work, not just for new or specific initiatives. A panel of healthcare delivery experts and GlaxoSmithKline representatives determine the winners based on a strong demonstration of ongoing success in providing access to healthcare, commitment to serving people in need, facilitation of healthcare delivery, creative partnerships and policy development, and a solid record of achievement, management and leadership.
