High Schoolers Can "Smile" While Exploring Dental Careers at Summer Camp in Maine

A unique camp at the University of New England in Portland, Maine, addresses the region's shortage of dentists by introducing students to dental careers through hands-on activities.

(PORTLAND, Maine) -- With the official start of summer this week, many high school students have shifted gears from school studies to summer camp. But not all set their sights on traditional camp activities like swimming, fishing, or arts & crafts. In fact, 20 teenagers in Maine and New Hampshire have chosen to "open wide" to an innovative and interesting alternative -- the University of New England's third annual "Dental Careers Exploration Camp" taking place Sunday, June 24 through Tuesday, June 26, 2012 on UNE's Portland Campus.

ADA’s Council on Dental Benefit Programs

ST. PAUL, Minn. – June 13, 2012 – In response to requests from 3M ESPE and the dental community, the ADA will broaden its definition of porcelain/ceramic materials in its CDT Code for insurance reimbursement, allowing 3M™ ESPE™ Lava™ Ultimate Restorative to be classified as a porcelain/ceramic. The change will be effective January 1, 2013, making it possible for dentists who use the material to easily file for insurance reimbursement, including using CDT code D2740 for crowns.

Sun Prairie, WI CareerFusion, the organization built on mentoring has joined with the American Orthodontic Society to educate dentists, dental hygienists, and dental assistants with cutting edge information on a variety of orthodontic topics.
