ACTEON Announces Partnership with DENTACAD

Mount Laurel, NJ – 8/2/2011 - ACTEON North American has announced that their products are now available in DENTACAD.  DENTACAD has partnered with most dental dealers to streamline the configuration of a doctor’s office.

DENTACAD provides the doctor with a database of ACTEON’s equipment catalog, interactive product descriptions and retail pricing.  The DENTACAD database is updated timely to ensure the doctor is provided with current pricing and information.

DentaQuest Foundation Grant Funds DC Area Campaign Promoting Children’s Oral Health

(Charlotte, NC – November 17, 2011) National Children’s Oral Health Foundation: America’s ToothfairyÒ (NCOHF) is launching a campaign designed to raise awareness of the importance of oral health and promote healthy behaviors among families in the greater Washington, DC metro area.  
Funded by a grant from the DentaQuest Foundation, Oral Health Matters: An Oral Health Social Marketing Campaign, combined with the establishment of a collaborative community effort to promote children’s oral health, centers on community programs and media messages that stress oral health’s inextricable link with children’s overall health, future success and the economic impact on the community. NCOHF is working with Howard University and area stakeholders to raise awareness of the importance of oral health through delivery of simple, effective messaging focused on prevention and effecting behavioral change in oral health.  The implementation of the media campaign and the expansion of the NCOHF Oral Health ZoneÒ in the DC area will provide the blueprint for other locales across the nation.  The goal is to facilitate oral health education and prevention strategies across North America in a united community effort to diminish the burden that poor oral health places on American resources and productivity, school systems, military preparedness, the economy and future workforce.

Pitt Offers Dental Informatics Program

PITTSBURGH, PA: November 15, 2011- The University of Pittsburgh is seeking applicants for MS, PhD, and postdoctoral positions for its training program in dental informatics. These programs provide training in a cutting-edge discipline which is focused on the application of computer and information science to improve dental practice, research, education, and management. A full scholarship, stipend, and health insurance are being offered by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to eligible individuals.

AAP Honors Award Recipients during 97th Annual Meeting

CHICAGO—(November 14, 2011)—The American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) awarded excellence in the field of periodontology amongst its members at the 97th Annual Meeting, held November 12-15, 2011 in Miami Beach, Florida.

“I am greatly honored to recognize the achievements of my colleagues who have contributed so much to the field of periodontics as well as to the American Academy of Periodontology,” said AAP President Dr. Pamela McClain. “The efforts of the 2011 award winners show that great innovations continue to come from the field of periodontics. I hope that their hard work and achievements will help to inspire all who work in our profession.”

Individual Awards

Gold Medal Award:

The Gold Medal Award is the highest honor bestowed by the Academy and is sponsored by Sunstar Americas, Inc. This year, the Academy recognizes Dr. Donald F. Adams for his outstanding contributions to the field of periodontics. Over the past 40 years, Dr. Adams has served as chairman of the American Board of Periodontology, president of the American Academy of Periodontology, and on over 30 Academy committees, 11 of which he chaired. Dr. Adams is known for his legacy of mentoring and leadership that continues to help advance the field of periodontics today.
