Dr. Ciancio is a distinguished service professor and chair of the department of periodontics and endodontics, adjunct professor of pharmacology at the University at Buffalo, State University of New York School of Dental Medicine. He also is director of the Center for Dental Studies at the University at Buffalo, Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, past president of the American Academy of Periodontology and its foundation. He is a member of the United States Pharmacopea Council of Dental Experts, and editor of the ADA Guide to Dental Therapeutics. He is the author of more than 150 scientific papers related to clinical periodontics and pharmacology. He has received a number of national honors and is a recent recipient of the Distinguished Scientist Award in Pharmacology from the International Association for Dental Research.
